Morning Star Pattern: the three-bar reversal explained

What it measures

A morning star is three bars: a large down bar, a small-bodied bar that gaps or trades away from it, and a large up bar that closes back inside the first bar’s body.

It measures a full round trip in control across three bars — sellers dominant, then indecisive, then buyers dominant enough to erase a meaningful part of the decline.

How it is calculated

How to read it

• The middle bar is the actual signal — it is where selling pressure first failed to continue. The third bar confirms it; the first bar only sets up the context.
• The deeper the third bar closes back into the first bar’s body, the stronger the reversal reads.
• Crypto rarely gaps between bars the way equities do, so the "gap" condition is usually read loosely — as a small overlapping second body rather than a true price gap.
