A crypto screener, free.
Basis includes a multi-condition crypto screener, free and with no account. You can build nested conditions from 132 indicators, a formula language, or strategy signals — and then backtest the screen itself.
What you get
- Nested AND/OR/NOT condition groups, not a fixed list of filters
- Conditions on price, volume, any of 132 indicators, custom formulas or strategy signals
- Configurable universes up to the top 200 by volume, across several venues
- A distance-to-trigger reading per condition, so near misses are visible rather than hidden
- Backtest the screen across history, and turn it into a recurring alert
- Export every scanned row — matches and misses alike — as CSV
- A sparkline per result, so the shape of each match is visible without opening it
- Results sortable by any condition column, not just by score
Why this is usually paid for
Screeners are a common place for a free tier to stop. The usual limits are the number of conditions, the number of results, how often you can run it, or whether you can save a screen at all.
None of those apply here. The screen runs in your browser against public market data, so there is no per-scan cost to ration.
The one thing worth understanding is that this shifts the cost to your machine. A two-hundred-symbol scan with several indicator conditions takes a few seconds and does real work locally, which is the trade being made in exchange for there being no bill.
How to use it
- 1
Start from a saved screen
Three worked examples ship with the product — a trend-quality screen, a volatility breakout and a statistical reversion. Open one and change a condition rather than starting from an empty tree.
- 2
Build the condition, then relax it
A screen that returns nothing is usually over-specified. Use the "one away" lens to see which symbols failed exactly one condition; those are often the list you actually wanted.
- 3
Backtest before you trust it
A screen that looks sensible today may have been useless for a year. The backtest replays the same conditions across history with no lookahead, which is the difference between a screen and a story.
- 4
Turn it into an alert
A screen you have to remember to run is a screen you will stop running. Attach a monitor and it re-runs on a schedule and tells you when the matches change.
Questions
How many conditions can I use?+
As many as you want, nested up to three levels of groups. There is no condition limit, no results limit and no cap on how often the screen runs, because it runs in your browser rather than on a server anyone has to pay for.
Can I screen on custom formulas?+
Yes. The Formula Lab has 121 functions, and any formula you build there becomes available as a screener condition. That is how you screen on something nobody shipped an indicator for.
Does it screen spot or futures?+
Either. The universe is defined per screen — venue, market type, quote currency and size — so a perpetual futures screen and a spot screen are separate saved models that can run against different universes.
Can I save screens without an account?+
Screens save to your browser without an account. An account, which is free, syncs them between devices and enables scheduled monitoring that runs when the tab is not open.
