Give Claude the live crypto market.

Paste one URL into Claude as a custom connector and it reads the market through Basis — candles on Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid, order flow, funding and open interest, 200 indicators and backtests — and hands you a real chart. It works on every Claude plan, including Free, which allows one custom connector. No account and no API key on our side.

What Claude can and cannot do on its own

Claude reasons well about markets and is honest about its limits: ask it about today's price action and it will tell you it cannot see it. Without a data connection it can explain what funding means, but not what funding is.

A custom connector closes that gap. Claude calls Basis the way it would call any tool, reads the result, and builds its answer — and its chart — from what it just observed.

Connect it

One server URL for every assistant. There is nothing to sign up for and no key to paste.

Claude

Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector. Name it Basis, paste the URL, then Continue and Add.

Works on every Claude plan, including Free (one custom connector). There is nothing to authorise: the connector has no login step because Basis does not ask for one.

Claude Code

Run this once in any project. It is saved for every session afterwards.

claude mcp add --transport http basis https://www.basischarts.com/api/mcp

ChatGPT

Plugins → the plus button → Add custom MCP server. Paste the URL, accept the notice and press Create as a plugin. Then switch Basis on in a new chat.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before a tool that changes something runs, and building a chart counts as one. Available on plans that allow custom MCP servers.

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or .cursor/mcp.json inside one project.

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "basis": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://www.basischarts.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Every client, tool and limit is on the Basis MCP page.

What changes once it can see the market

Observe, then reason

Live candles from one second to one month on Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid, plus funding, open interest, positioning and liquidations, before it says anything.

Read the order flow

Aggressor-tagged trades summed into delta and volume at price, so "buyers stepped in" is a number, not a vibe.

Screen the whole market

Market-wide screens on any indicator or price rule across the most traded coins — "find me the coins doing this" answered from the venue, not memory.

Test before trusting

Backtests with fees and no lookahead, and comparisons across 33 built-in strategies with held-out validation.

Hand you the chart

Indicators, levels, Fibonacci and position boxes on a real chart, which Claude can look at to check its own work, behind a link that opens it in Basis.

Work in Claude Code too

One command adds Basis to Claude Code, so research scripts and notebooks can ask the same questions from your terminal.

Prompts to start with

Each one asks the assistant to check something specific, and says what it will look at — so you can tell a measured answer from a fluent one.

Find the crowd

Which way are the screened Hyperliquid whales leaning on BTC, at what average entry, and how far is the price from that entry now?

Checks: A research-screened whale group's current positions: side, consensus entry, leverage and distance to liquidation.

Find setups

Find coins on Binance where 1h RSI(14) is below 30 and chart the one with the most volume.

Checks: A market-wide screen on live candles, then a chart link.

Read the macro

What high-impact events are scheduled this month, and how did BTC trade in the 24 hours after the last US jobs report?

Checks: The event calendar and the candles around the release.

Check the relationship

How correlated have SOL and ETH been this month, and is BTC dominance rising or falling?

Checks: Rolling correlation and the dominance series.

Watch it for me

Prepare an alert for when BTC closes a 1h candle above the last swing high.

Checks: The swing from the chart and an alert rule you review before setting.

Claude, Claude Desktop and Claude Code

In Claude and Claude Desktop, open Customize, then Connectors, press + Add and choose Add custom connector. Name it Basis, paste the URL, then Continue and Add. On Team and Enterprise plans an admin adds it for the organisation and members connect it.

Claude reaches connectors from Anthropic's cloud, so the server has to be public — Basis is. There is nothing to log in to.

In Claude Code, one command adds it for every session afterwards: claude mcp add --transport http basis https://www.basischarts.com/api/mcp

What it will not do

  • It does not predict prices. It reports what the market is doing and what the numbers say about it; the decision stays yours.
  • It does not place trades or touch an exchange account. Basis reads public market data and builds charts — there are no keys to give it.
  • It cannot see your Basis journal, saved alerts or workspace. It can prepare a new alert for you to set, nothing more.
  • A model reading good data is still a model. Ask it to show what it checked, and treat an answer with no checks behind it as an opinion.

Questions

Does this work on the Claude Free plan?+

Yes. Anthropic allows custom connectors on every plan, and Free allows one. Basis can be that one.

Is Basis free?+

Yes: the server needs no account and no API key. An optional paid Basis Founders membership adds deeper tools through a personal link; nothing on this page needs it.

Where is the custom connector setting?+

Customize, then Connectors, then + Add and Add custom connector. On Team and Enterprise plans an admin adds connectors for the organisation.

Can Claude place trades through Basis?+

No. Basis has no exchange access. It reads public market data, computes, and builds charts and alert links.

What does Basis see of my chat?+

Only the tool calls Claude makes, such as "ETHUSDT funding". Not your conversation and not your Anthropic account.

Which data sources does it use?+

Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid, spot and perpetual, read at the moment of each call, plus publisher news feeds, a calendar of scheduled market events and public Hyperliquid positions.

Ask your first question on live data

Paste the URL into your assistant, then ask it what the market is doing — and to show you what it checked.

Setup steps are as OpenAI and Anthropic document them in October 2026; menus change. Basis reports what venues publish and what the maths says about it. Nothing here is financial advice.
