Can ChatGPT predict crypto prices?

No — and nothing else reliably can either. What an AI can do, once it can see live data, is the work around a decision: read what the market is doing now, check what happened the last times conditions looked like this, and test a rule on history before you put money behind it.

Why a confident forecast is the wrong thing to ask for

People ask an AI for a prediction because certainty is what a trade feels like it needs. A language model is very good at producing the sound of certainty: fluent, specific, reasonable. That is exactly what makes its price targets dangerous.

Markets react to what everyone expects. A forecast that worked reliably would be traded until it stopped working. What lasts is not knowing the future but being better prepared for it: seeing a crowded trade early, knowing where you are wrong, sizing for the move you cannot predict.

ChatGPT

Plugins → the plus button → Add custom MCP server. Paste the URL, accept the notice and press Create as a plugin. Then switch Basis on in a new chat.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before a tool that changes something runs, and building a chart counts as one. Available on plans that allow custom MCP servers.

Claude

Customize → Connectors → + Add → Add custom connector. Name it Basis, paste the URL, then Continue and Add.

Works on every Claude plan, including Free (one custom connector). There is nothing to authorise: the connector has no login step because Basis does not ask for one.

Claude Code

Run this once in any project. It is saved for every session afterwards.

What changes once it can see the market

Read conditions now

Trend, momentum, funding, open interest and order flow, checked at the moment you ask.

Check the base rate

What happened after similar situations in the past, and how many times — so "this usually bounces" comes with a sample size.

Spot the crowd

Funding far from its usual range, one-sided whale positioning and heavy leverage are where moves tend to accelerate — measured, not felt.

Test the rule

If an idea can be written as a rule, it can be backtested on exchange history with costs before it is trusted.

Prompts to start with

Each one asks the assistant to check something specific, and says what it will look at — so you can tell a measured answer from a fluent one.

Instead of "where will BTC be next week"

What are BTC trend, funding and open interest saying right now, and where do they disagree?

Checks: Live candles, indicators and derivatives data.

Instead of "will it bounce"

Find the past situations most like BTC's current one and show how trades taken in them played out — and how many cases that is.

Checks: Historical analogues of the current state, settled on later candles with costs.

Instead of "is it a good buy"

Where would a long on ETH here be clearly wrong, and how much would I lose at that point with a $1,000 account risking 1%?

Checks: An invalidation level and a position calculation.

Instead of "give me a signal"

Which built-in strategies would have held up on BTC 4h, judged on data they were not tuned on?

Checks: A strategy comparison with held-out validation.

What it will not do

  • It does not predict prices. It reports what the market is doing and what the numbers say about it; the decision stays yours.
  • It does not place trades or touch an exchange account. Basis reads public market data and builds charts — there are no keys to give it.
  • Be wary of any tool, AI or not, that promises reliable price predictions or returns.
  • A model reading good data is still a model. Ask it to show what it checked, and treat an answer with no checks behind it as an opinion.

Questions

Can ChatGPT predict Bitcoin prices?+

No. It can produce a confident-sounding forecast, but nothing behind it makes it reliable. Connected to live data it can read conditions and test ideas, which is more useful and more honest.

Are AI crypto predictions accurate?+

Not reliably. Markets adapt to whatever is widely expected, and any method that predicted them well would be traded until it stopped working.

Can ChatGPT make money trading crypto?+

It cannot promise that, and neither can any tool. It can make your preparation faster and better informed: what is happening, how often similar setups worked, and what the idea would have done on history.

Then what is the best way to use AI for crypto?+

As a fast, tireless analyst that checks: give it live data, ask for measurements and sample sizes, have it test rules before you trust them, and keep the decision and the risk yours.

Ask your first question on live data

Paste the URL into your assistant, then ask it what the market is doing — and to show you what it checked.
