Why this is usually paid for

Solana options are young and scattered. Deribit, OKX, Bybit and Binance each list them, each quotes them in its own units, and none of them shows the whole market. A max pain or gamma figure read from one venue describes that venue’s book, which in a market this size can miss much of the open interest.

Basis converts each venue’s SOL contracts to the same units, sums open interest strike by strike, and computes max pain and modelled gamma on the merged book. Because that work runs once on a shared server read that every visitor uses, there is no per-user cost to meter, and nothing for a subscription to cover.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Open Options on Solana

The button below opens the options workspace already on SOL, on All venues. The headline figures show open interest, volume and the put/call ratio for the whole Solana options market, with each venue’s share listed beside them.

  2. 2

    Find the expiries that matter

The expiry chips show each date’s open interest. In a smaller options market most of the size tends to sit in a few dates, and those are the only ones where max pain and gamma deserve attention.

  3. 3

Read max pain with the strikes behind it

Pick an expiry: max pain is marked on the open interest by strike chart. A thin market can move its max pain with one large trade, so check whether the figure rests on many strikes or on one.

  4. 4

Check gamma before a big date

Switch the chart to gamma exposure. The strikes with the largest bars near the SOL index are where dealer hedging is modelled to be heaviest, and the zero gamma level shows which side of that the market sits on.

Questions

Is Solana options data free on Basis?+

Yes. SOL max pain, open interest by strike and by expiry, the put/call ratio, gamma exposure and the full chain are free, with no account, trial or data subscription. Everything is computed from public quotes and open interest published by the venues that list SOL options.

Which exchanges list Solana options?+

When this page was written, Deribit, OKX, Bybit and Binance all listed SOL options, and Basis merges all four. The venue panel shows each one’s share of open interest, and any single venue can be viewed on its own when one of them dominates a strike.

What is SOL max pain?+

It is the settlement price at which SOL option holders, in aggregate, would collect the least. For each listed strike as a candidate settlement price, the payout of every call and put is summed by open interest, and the strike with the smallest total is max pain. It describes positioning, not where price must go.

Why can Solana max pain jump between refreshes?+

Because the market is small. A single large trade can add enough open interest at one strike to move max pain, and new strikes are listed as price moves. Basis recomputes every thirty seconds and shows the strikes behind the figure, so a jump can be traced to the positions that caused it.

Does Basis show Solana implied volatility?+

Yes. The volatility smile and the at-the-money term structure for SOL are free, read from the venue with the most SOL open interest, which the page names. No DVOL-style index is published for Solana, so Basis shows the smile and the term structure rather than inventing one.
