How the settings are measured
A footprint is built from individual trades, so its cost is the tape behind the bars on screen. Basis downloads about 1,200 trades a second within Binance's request limits, and a readable screen holds about 15 bars. Each coin's suggested interval is the longest one whose first screen loads within about 75 seconds at that coin's current trade rate.
The heatmap advice compares how far Binance's nearest 1,000 order-book levels reach from price with the coin's typical fifteen-minute move. When the book reaches well beyond that move, the fitted fifteen-minute view stays filled; when it barely does, shorter views avoid the grey that marks unrecorded depth. Binance publishes no order-book history, so the heatmap records from the moment the page opens.

Why are some coins missing?+
A coin needs real activity to make order flow worth reading: curated markets need about five million dollars of daily volume and a trade a second, and other perpetuals four times that volume and a month of listing. Quieter markets still open in the terminal; they just do not get a page.
