Coverage & provenance

Know where every market layer begins.

Basis combines public venue and publisher data without pretending every source offers the same fields, history or precision.

Price, candle and trade data

Basis connects to public market endpoints from Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid. Coverage varies by venue and instrument. Binance is the primary source for exact public-trade reconstruction, one-second bars and completed intraday archives; other venues can provide spot or perpetual candle streams where supported.

  • Binance: spot and USD-margined perpetual candles, tickers and public trades.
  • Bybit: spot and linear perpetual candles, tickers and public trades.
  • OKX: spot and perpetual-swap candles, tickers and public trades.
  • Hyperliquid: perpetual-market candles, tickers and public trades.

Derivatives and positioning

Derivatives panes use public venue APIs and label the active source. Binance, Bybit, OKX and Hyperliquid expose different subsets of funding, open interest, positioning, taker flow and liquidations. A blank field can therefore mean the selected venue does not publish that measure—not that a neutral value was observed.

  • Binance: funding, open interest, account and top-trader positioning, taker flow and live liquidations.
  • Bybit: funding, open interest, account positioning and live liquidations.
  • OKX: funding plus currency-level long/short and taker-volume statistics where available.
  • Hyperliquid: funding, open interest and premium; public whale/account context uses Hyperliquid public info.

Market context, calendar and news

Global crypto market overview data is requested from CoinGecko. Bitcoin network calendar context uses public mempool.space block and difficulty data. Crypto headlines are aggregated from publisher feeds including CoinDesk, Cointelegraph, The Block, Decrypt, Bitcoin Magazine, CryptoSlate, Bitcoinist and NewsBTC. Headlines remain the work of their publishers and should be opened at the source before a high-stakes decision.

Known limitations

Public APIs can rate-limit, pause, revise recent bars or differ across instruments. Network latency and venue maintenance can create temporary gaps. Calculated notional values may use the latest available mark when the venue supplies historical contracts but not historical notional. Basis surfaces provider, freshness and degradation signals where the interface supports them.

Attribution and availability

Provider names identify the source of public observations; they do not imply endorsement or partnership. Availability is subject to provider terms, regional access and endpoint changes. Basis may replace or disable a source when it cannot meet the product’s accuracy or reliability requirements.
