Bar replay in your pocket. Free.
Yes, bar replay is free on your phone with Basis. It runs in the browser on iPhone and Android: tap Tools, then Bar Replay, pick a past bar, and step or play forward while everything after it stays hidden. No app to install, no account, no trial and no replay limit.
What you get
- Bar Replay in the phone’s Tools sheet, one tap from the chart, on any Binance market the chart opens
- Four ways to choose the start: tap a bar on the chart, jump to the first loaded bar, let Basis pick a random bar, or enter a date and time
- A control bar along the bottom edge, in reach of a thumb: step back, play or pause, step forward, speeds from a quarter to ten times, and Live to return to the present
- Indicators recalculated only from the bars up to the replay cursor, so no moving average or oscillator can peek at the hidden future
- Drawing tools made for a finger, so the levels you mark before each step stay on the chart as it advances
Why this is usually paid for
Replay is the training half of charting: decide with only what was visible at the time, then see what happened. It is also a feature platforms like to hold back for a paid plan, and on most of them it lives in a desktop toolbar that a phone layout leaves out. Yet the minutes when practice is actually possible, on a train or in a queue, are mostly minutes spent on a phone.
Basis replays history the chart has already loaded, in the browser, so there is no server cost to meter and nothing to charge for. On a phone, replay lives in the Tools sheet, where it takes no room from the chart, and its controls sit along the bottom of the screen.
Replay on a phone is still bar replay. A candle does not record the path price took inside it, and each step reveals one closed bar. Use it to practise reading and deciding, not to estimate exact fills.
How to use it
- 1
Open the chart and choose the market
The button below opens Binance BTCUSDT on five-minute candles. Change the symbol or the interval first: replay uses whatever the chart is showing, and the interval decides how much each step reveals.
- 2
Tap Tools, then Bar Replay
A bar appears along the bottom asking you to pick a bar. Tap the candle to start from, or use the buttons beside it to jump to the first loaded bar, a random bar or a date you type in.
- 3
Decide before every step
Before tapping step forward, mark the level that would prove the idea wrong and where you would take profit. A decision written down before the next bar appears is evidence; one made after it is hindsight.
- 4
Play, pause, then go Live
Play advances at the speed you choose, from a quarter speed to ten times faster. Pause at each decision point, and press Live when you are finished to bring the chart back to the present.
Questions
Is bar replay really free on a phone?+
Yes. Bar replay in Basis is free on a phone exactly as on a desktop: no account, no trial, no card and no limit on how many replays you run. It works in Safari, Chrome and other modern mobile browsers, on iPhone and Android, with nothing to install from an app store.
Where is replay on the phone layout?+
In Tools, the fourth button along the bottom of the screen. Tap Tools, then Bar Replay, and the chart switches to picking a start bar. The same action is in Menu too, under Search everything: type replay and choose Bar Replay from the results.
Can I start replay from a specific date?+
Yes. While Basis asks you to pick a bar, the calendar button lets you type a date and time, and replay starts from the loaded bar at or before it. The random button picks a starting bar for you, which keeps practice away from the moves you already remember.
Do indicators show future values during replay?+
No. During replay every indicator is calculated only from the bars up to the replay cursor. A moving average, an RSI or a custom formula therefore shows what it would have shown at that moment, which is the whole point of practising with replay rather than scrolling back.
Which charts can be replayed on a phone?+
Time-based charts on any preset interval: candles and the other chart types drawn bar by bar. Renko, Kagi, Line Break, Point and Figure and range bars are built from price movement rather than time, so Bar Replay is unavailable on them until you switch chart type.
Is phone replay a trading simulator?+
No. It is bar replay, made for reading and decision practice. Candles do not keep the path price took inside each bar, the spread or the queue at each price, so replay cannot tell you the exact fill you would have had. Test a rule with replay, then measure it with a backtest.
