Order flow on a Mac. Free, in the browser.
Yes. Basis gives you a real crypto footprint chart on a Mac for free. It runs in Safari, Chrome, Firefox or Edge, with nothing to download, no account and no trial, and builds bid and ask volume, delta and imbalances from Binance’s live trade tape.
What you get
- The full Volume footprint in a browser tab: Bid × Ask, Delta, Volume and Dominance views on Binance spot pairs and USD-M perpetuals
- Delta, bar POC and value area, stacked imbalances and delta divergence, with row grouping you can tune to each coin
- The Order Flow workspace beside it: a live liquidity heatmap, depth of market and Time & Sales on the same contract
- A layout that uses the whole screen of a MacBook or an external display, with keyboard shortcuts and a command palette
- The same experience on Apple silicon and Intel Macs, because nothing is installed and the browser does the work
- Bar-by-bar replay of past sessions, and price alerts that run while the tab is open
Why this is usually paid for
Much of the classic order-flow software was built for Windows first. On a Mac that has meant running Windows in a virtual machine, controlling another computer remotely, or doing without. The data was never the obstacle: on crypto every trade is public and carries the side that crossed the spread.
Basis builds the footprint inside the browser from Binance’s trade stream, so a Mac needs nothing but the browser it already has. There is no installer to trust, no seat licence and no server doing the work for each user, which is why it can be offered for free.
How to use it
- 1
Open the footprint in your browser
The button below opens Binance BTCUSDT on a five-minute Volume footprint. Safari and Chrome both work. If you want it a click away, Safari can add any site to the Dock from its File menu, and it then opens in its own window like an app.
- 2
Give the chart the screen
Go full screen or move the window to an external display, then zoom until a handful of bars fill the view. On a large screen the cells are big enough to read bid and ask volume at every price without squinting.
- 3
Read the trades against the book
Press Order Flow at the top of the terminal for the liquidity heatmap, depth of market and tape on the same market. The footprint shows what traded; the heatmap shows what is waiting. Read together, they say whether a level was defended and what it cost.
- 4
Keep the window in view for long sessions
Browsers slow down tabs that are hidden behind others to save energy, which can pause the live tape. For a long session, keep Basis in its own window where you can see it. When a paused tab comes back into view, it reconnects and repairs the trade history.
Questions
Is the footprint chart really free on a Mac?+
Yes. The footprint, the liquidity heatmap, depth of market and Time & Sales are free on a Mac exactly as on any other computer: no account, no trial, no card and nothing to install. Open the link and the chart builds from Binance’s live trades in your browser.
Do I need to install anything or run Windows?+
No. Basis is a web application, so there is no installer and no Windows virtual machine involved. It runs in Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Edge on macOS, and your workspace is saved in the browser so it is there the next time you open it.
Does it work on Apple silicon Macs?+
Yes. Because Basis runs in the browser, there is no separate build for Apple silicon or Intel to download, and both run it the same way. A recent MacBook handles a live footprint comfortably; on an older machine, a wider row grouping keeps scrolling smooth.
Which markets can I open on a Mac?+
Every free Basis market: Binance spot pairs and more than five hundred USD-M crypto perpetuals, from Bitcoin and Ethereum to new listings, plus the tokenized-gold contracts PAXG and XAUT. Stock and commodity perpetuals are part of the optional Founders membership.
Why does the live tape pause when I switch windows?+
Because macOS browsers save energy by slowing down tabs that are not in view, and a slowed tab can fall behind the live trade stream. Keep Basis in a visible window for long sessions. When it returns to view, it reconnects and fills in the trades it missed.
