A live forex order book. Free.

Yes, a live forex order book is free on Basis, on currency pairs that trade on Binance: EUR/USDT, USDT/TRY, USDT/BRL and others. You see depth of market, a liquidity heatmap of resting orders and Time & Sales of every trade, in your browser with no account. It is one exchange’s complete book, because the bank market has no shared book for anyone to show.

What you get

  • Depth of market on eight currency pairs, updating live, with price grouping you can change
  • A liquidity heatmap that records the order book over time, so you can see liquidity arrive and leave
  • Time & Sales of every trade, tagged by aggressor, with a size filter
  • Walls marked in the ladder, and the book’s balance within set distances of the price
  • Executed trades drawn over the heatmap, so you can see whether a resting order was really met
  • A Volume footprint on the same pair, for what traded inside each bar

Why this is usually paid for

Forex depth of market usually disappoints, because there is no single forex book. Every bank and broker has its own, so a depth window on a retail platform shows one provider’s prices and sizes, and Time & Sales shows that provider’s quotes or trades at best. That is a real view of one place, but it is often sold as more than it is.

An exchange-listed pair has an actual shared book. Every resting order and every trade in EUR/USDT on Binance is visible to everyone at the same moment, and Basis shows the nearest 1,000 levels each side. It is a much smaller market than the bank market and priced against USDT, so it shows this venue’s liquidity rather than the whole currency’s.

How to use it

  1. 1

    Open the book

The button opens EUR/USDT in the Order Flow workspace, with the ladder and Time & Sales at the side. Choose another pair from the symbol search, where the Forex tab lists them first.

  2. 2

    Group the ladder

Change the price grouping until levels are readable, and look at the balance figures for how much rests on each side within a set distance. A single number at one price says less than where the book is thick or thin.

  3. 3

    Watch whether walls hold

A large resting order can be pulled the moment price comes near it. Watch it on the heatmap over time, and check the tape: an order that keeps refilling while trades hit it means more than one that vanishes on approach.

Questions

Is the live forex order book really free?+

Yes. These pairs are Binance spot markets, and depth of market, the liquidity heatmap and Time & Sales are free on every crypto market in Basis, with no account, no trial and no card. They run live in your browser.

How can I see time and sales for forex?+

Open a currency pair that trades on an exchange. In Basis, the Order Flow workspace shows Time & Sales for EUR/USDT and other Binance pairs, with every trade tagged by aggressor. Spot forex at the banks publishes no shared trade record to show.

What is depth of market in forex?+

Depth of market lists the orders waiting at each price. In spot forex each provider has its own book, so no window shows everyone. On an exchange pair such as EUR/USDT there is one shared book, and depth of market shows it directly.

Is this the real EUR/USD order book?+

No, because there is no single EUR/USD book. This is Binance’s EUR/USDT book, which is complete for that market and moves with EUR/USD, but the liquidity it shows belongs to that venue and is small beside the bank market.

How far from the price can I see?+

Basis records the nearest 1,000 levels each side of Binance’s book. How far that reaches depends on the pair and its tick size, and each pair’s page gives the current figure. Grey on the heatmap means unrecorded, not empty.
