Gold’s order book, over time. Free.
Yes. Basis shows a free, live liquidity heatmap for gold on Binance’s tokenized-gold perpetuals PAXG and XAUT: resting bids and offers sampled every second for up to fifteen minutes, beside depth of market and the trade tape, with no account and no trial.
What you get
- A rolling order-book heatmap on PAXGUSDT and XAUTUSDT: one-second sampling, up to fifteen minutes of history, with fit, 1m, 5m and 15m views
- A deep picture: on these contracts the nearest thousand price levels reach well beyond a percent either side of price, so the heatmap stays filled while gold moves
- Depth of market and Time & Sales for the same contract, with large resting orders marked as walls
- Executed trade bubbles, cumulative delta and reported liquidations on the same time axis
- Around-the-clock trading, weekends included, when COMEX gold futures are closed
- Grey for depth that was not recorded, never shown as an empty book, so what you read was really there
Why this is usually paid for
Seeing gold’s order book normally means paying for a futures market-depth feed, and a broker’s XAUUSD quote is not an order book at all: it shows a price, not the size waiting at each level. Depth is where the intentions of larger participants first become visible, which is why it is usually sold separately.
Binance publishes the full order book of its tokenized-gold perpetuals for free, and Basis records it in your browser while the page is open. The trade-off, said plainly: PAXG and XAUT are smaller markets than gold futures and can trade at a small premium or discount to spot gold, so their book describes those contracts, not every gold order in the world.
How to use it
- 1
Open PAXG and press Order Flow
The button below opens Binance PAXGUSDT. Press Order Flow at the top of the terminal to see the liquidity workspace: the heatmap in the middle, depth of market on the right and cumulative delta underneath.
- 2
Give it a minute to record
Binance publishes no history of its order book, so the heatmap starts recording the moment you open it. After a minute the picture fills in; leave it open and up to fifteen minutes of resting liquidity build up on screen.
- 3
Separate walls that hold from walls that flash
Follow a bright band over time. Size that stays as price approaches, and is traded into without disappearing, is a different signal from size that vanishes a moment before price arrives. Neither proves intent, so wait for the trades to confirm it.

Check XAUT as a second book
Open XAUTUSDT the same way. Two separate gold contracts showing size at the same price is a stronger read than one book alone, and a disagreement between them is itself worth knowing before you act on a level.
Questions
Is the gold liquidity heatmap really free?+
Yes. PAXGUSDT and XAUTUSDT are ordinary crypto perpetuals on Binance, and the liquidity heatmap, depth of market and Time & Sales are free on every crypto market in Basis: no account, no trial and no card. Open PAXG, press Order Flow and it starts recording.
Is this the same as the order book for XAUUSD or gold futures?+
No. Each PAXG and XAUT token is backed by one troy ounce of gold, so prices track gold closely, but these are separate markets with their own order books. The heatmap shows resting orders on those Binance contracts, not a broker’s XAUUSD quotes or the COMEX book.
Why does the heatmap only go back fifteen minutes?+
Because Binance does not publish a history of its order book, only the live book. Basis records it in your browser from the moment the page opens and keeps the most recent fifteen minutes. Trades can be fetched afterwards, which is why the tape and delta reach further back.
PAXG or XAUT: which book should I watch?+
Watch both if you can. On the day this page was written, PAXGUSDT traded somewhat more than XAUTUSDT, while XAUT’s nearest thousand levels reached further from price. Agreement between the two books carries more weight than either one alone.
What does Basis Founders add for gold?+
Binance’s XAUUSDT gold contract, which trades far more than the tokenized ones, with a full footprint, plus silver, crude oil, stock index funds and individual stocks. It is optional, paid for thirty days at a time or once for life, and the free PAXG and XAUT tools stay free.
