Gold, inside the candle. Free.
Yes, a real gold footprint is free on Basis. Binance lists perpetuals on PAXG and XAUT, tokens each backed by one troy ounce of gold, and Basis builds the footprint from their executed trades: bid and ask volume, delta, the busiest price and stacked imbalances, live in your browser, with no account and no trial.
What you get
- Volume footprint on PAXGUSDT and XAUTUSDT: Bid × Ask, Delta, Volume and Dominance views, with row grouping you can tune to gold’s tick size
- Delta, bar POC and value area, stacked imbalances and delta divergence: the same order-flow toolkit as the free crypto footprint
- A live liquidity heatmap, depth of market and Time & Sales on the same gold contract
- Session volume profile, to see where gold did its business across a range rather than inside one bar
- Around-the-clock trading, weekends included, when COMEX gold futures are closed
- Price alerts at the gold prices you choose, running while the tab is open
Why this is usually paid for
Gold order flow usually means paying for a futures data feed. COMEX gold trades come from an exchange feed that charting platforms license and resell, and a broker’s XAUUSD chart counts quote updates rather than executed volume. Tokenized gold changes that: PAXG and XAUT trade on Binance as ordinary crypto perpetuals, so every print is public and carries the side that crossed the spread.
The trade-off, said plainly: PAXGUSDT and XAUTUSDT are smaller markets than gold futures, and a token can trade at a small premium or discount to spot gold. Their footprint describes those contracts, not all of the world’s gold buying. Binance’s own XAUUSDT gold contract is far deeper, and it sits in Basis Founders beside silver, crude oil and the rest of the stock and commodity markets.
How to use it
- 1
Open PAXG on the footprint
The button opens Binance PAXGUSDT on a five-minute Volume footprint. Gold moves in smaller steps than most coins, so widen the row grouping until a normal bar shows a handful of readable rows rather than a wall of single ticks.
- 2
Mark the levels gold actually respects
Draw the prior day’s high and low, the Asian session range and the minute of any US data release you care about. Order flow is most useful at a level you chose before price arrived, not at one you pick afterwards to fit the picture.
- 3
Read delta as price reaches the level
Heavy selling into a level with little downward progress is an absorption candidate; heavy buying that fails to lift price is its mirror. Neither proves a hidden buyer or seller. Watch the next few bars and keep an invalidation level either way.
- 4
Check XAUT before you trust PAXG
Open XAUTUSDT on the same interval. Two separate gold contracts showing the same aggression at the same price is a stronger read than one thin print, and a disagreement is itself worth knowing before you act.
Questions
Is the gold footprint chart really free?+
Yes. PAXGUSDT and XAUTUSDT are ordinary crypto perpetuals on Binance, and every crypto footprint in Basis is free: no account, no trial and no card. Open the chart, choose Volume footprint and the ladders build from the live trade tape.
Is a PAXG footprint the same as spot gold or XAUUSD?+
Not exactly. Each PAXG and XAUT token is backed by one troy ounce of gold, so the price tracks gold closely, but it can sit at a small premium or discount. The footprint shows trading in those Binance contracts, not a broker’s XAUUSD tick count or the COMEX tape.
PAXG or XAUT: which one should I use?+
Start with the busier one. On the day this page was written, Binance’s PAXGUSDT traded roughly twice the volume of XAUTUSDT, so its footprint fills in faster. Keep the other open as a second opinion: agreement between the two carries more weight than either alone.
Does the gold footprint work on weekends?+
Yes. Tokenized gold trades around the clock on Binance, including Saturdays and Sundays, when COMEX gold futures are closed. That makes it one of the few ways to watch gold being bought and sold over a weekend, though volume is usually thinner then than on weekdays.
Why not use COMEX gold futures data instead?+
Because a real-time COMEX feed is licensed exchange data that platforms usually charge for, which is exactly the cost this page is about. The tokenized contracts are public and free to read. If you need the COMEX tape itself, a futures data subscription remains the right tool.
What does Basis Founders add for gold?+
Binance’s XAUUSDT gold contract, which trades far more than the tokenized ones, with a full footprint, plus silver, crude oil, S&P 500 and Nasdaq funds, Nvidia, Tesla and more. It is optional, paid for 30 days at a time or once for life, and nothing renews by itself.
