Basis terminal interface and advanced crypto charting
Learn the Basis chart toolbar, drawing tools, indicators, chart types, replay, multi-timeframe navigation and screenshots.
The terminal is organized around one market state
The selected symbol, market, exchange and timeframe are shared by the chart and connected panels. Changing BTCUSDT from spot to perpetual changes the data contract beneath derivatives and order-flow tools; it is not a cosmetic label.
- Header: live price, 24-hour statistics, venue and stream state.
- Chart toolbar: intervals, range bars, replay, chart type and indicators.
- Drawing rail: selection, trend tools, shapes, text, Fibonacci, position plans and measurements.
- Dock: synchronized panels that read the current chart context.
- Status bar: active alerts, data quality and connection state.
Timeframes, one-second bars and range bars
Timeframes answer different questions. Higher intervals reduce noise and define structure; lower intervals refine execution. Basis also supports price-driven range bars and exact one-second bars where the venue provides sufficient trades.
| Interval | Best use | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| 1d–4h | Regime, trend and major levels | Using it for a precise scalp entry |
| 1h–15m | Day-trade structure and setup development | Ignoring higher-timeframe conflict |
| 5m–1m | Trigger, execution and short-term management | Treating noise as a regime change |
| 1s | Microstructure and immediate flow | Expecting deep history or using it as a directional model |
| Range | Price movement independent of clock time | Combining with incompatible synthetic chart types |
Choose a chart type for the question
- Candles and bars preserve familiar OHLC structure.
- Heikin Ashi smooths trend but does not show executable prices on every bar.
- Renko, Kagi, Line Break and Point & Figure transform price; treat their bars as synthetic.
- Footprint and market-profile views answer participation and auction questions rather than simple direction.
- Use Replay to inspect historical decisions without exposing the future.
Important
Never quote a synthetic bar as if it were the venue’s raw traded OHLC. Return to candles when exact price and timing matter.
Indicators and drawings without clutter
- 01
Add a study
Open Indicators, search by name and add it. Each instance has independent parameters, visibility and placement.
- 02
Limit duplication
RSI, Stochastic and Williams %R often describe the same momentum family. Choose evidence from different families.
- 03
Draw a level
Select a line or zone from the left rail and anchor it to the chart. Use labels to record why it matters.
- 04
Capture the result
Use the screenshot control when you need a clean record or want the agent to inspect visual shape.
