Footprint charts without a TradingView upgrade.

Yes, there is a free way to read a footprint chart if you chart crypto on TradingView. Its Volume footprint chart type is not on the free Basic plan, but Basis builds the same kind of footprint free for Binance perpetuals: bid and ask volume at every price, delta, POC and stacked imbalances, in a browser tab beside your TradingView chart.

What you get

  • A live Volume footprint on any Binance USD-M perpetual: Bid × Ask, Delta, Volume and Dominance views
  • Delta, bar POC and value area, stacked diagonal imbalances and delta divergence, with Balanced, Scalp and Filtered imbalance presets
  • Built from Binance’s own trade tape, so each cell is volume that traded at that price, split by the side that crossed the spread
  • The liquidity heatmap, depth of market and Time & Sales on the same contract, in the Order Flow workspace
  • No account, no trial and no card: open the link and the footprint builds in the browser

Why this is usually paid for

TradingView is a superb general charting platform, and for many traders it is where every chart lives. Its footprint, though, sits on the paid side of the plan table, so a crypto trader on the free plan who wants to see where buyers and sellers actually traded inside a bar has had to upgrade or go without.

Basis is narrower on purpose. It covers crypto only and builds its footprint from Binance’s public trade tape in your browser, which costs nothing per user to serve, so the footprint is free. It does not replace TradingView for stocks, forex or futures, or for Pine Script; it sits beside it, for the order flow on the crypto contracts you already watch.

Checked 1 November 2026: TradingView lists its Volume footprint chart type among the order-flow features of its paid plans, the free Basic plan does not include it, and TradingView introduced it for Premium and higher-tier plans. How to use it

  1. 1

    Match the contract

TradingView writes Binance’s Bitcoin perpetual as BINANCE:BTCUSDT.P. In Basis the same contract is BTCUSDT on Binance futures, which is what the button below opens. Use the perpetual on both sides: spot and perpetual trades are different tapes.

  2. 2

Keep both open side by side

Leave TradingView on your usual layout and open Basis in a second tab or window on the same interval. Mark levels where you always do, and read the footprint where price reaches them.

  3. 3

Read the bars that test your level

At a level, look at delta and the imbalances in the bars that touch it. Aggressive selling that fails to move price is absorption; heavy buying with no follow-through is exhaustion. A footprint shows that inside the bar, where a candle cannot.

  4. 4

Size the rows to the coin

Leave row grouping on Auto, or widen it until a normal bar shows a handful of rows. Each coin’s order-flow page lists a starting interval and row width measured from that coin’s own trade rate.

Questions

Is the TradingView footprint chart free?+

No. TradingView offers its Volume footprint chart type on paid plans, and the free Basic plan does not include it, according to TradingView’s own pricing page and announcement as checked on 1 November 2026. For crypto, Basis builds a footprint free, from Binance trades, with no account.

Is the Basis footprint the same as TradingView’s?+

It answers the same question, volume traded at each price inside each bar split into buying and selling, but it is a different product. Basis builds it from Binance’s trade tape for Binance perpetuals only, adds diagonal imbalance presets and delta divergence, and covers no stocks, forex or futures.

Can I add the Basis footprint to my TradingView chart?+

Not inside TradingView: Basis is a separate charting tool in the browser, not a TradingView indicator. Most traders keep TradingView open on their usual layout and Basis in a second tab or window on the same contract and interval, and glance across at the levels that matter.

Which markets does the free footprint cover?+

Every Binance USD-M crypto perpetual, from Bitcoin and Ether to small coins, plus the PAXG and XAUT gold tokens. Stock and commodity perpetuals on Binance have footprints in Basis too, but those belong to the paid Basis Founders membership rather than the free tools.

Do I need a TradingView account for this?+

No. Basis is independent of TradingView and needs no account of any kind: open the link and the footprint builds from Binance’s live trades in your browser. Signing in to Basis is optional, and only keeps your layouts and drawings in step across your devices.
