Basis Founders · Binance perpetual data
Oil footprint charts. Separate the headline from the reaction.
Use WTI-linked and Brent-linked perpetual footprints to examine where an oil move actually traded. Compare participation before and after the event, with the contract and venue always in view.
Data scope: CLUSDT and BZUSDT are Binance perpetuals. These charts do not provide NYMEX CL or ICE Brent futures transactions or their individual expiry months.

A CL symbol is not enough to identify the data
Oil research often starts with a familiar abbreviation, but the full contract matters. CLUSDT in Basis is a perpetual on Binance. A front-month CL futures contract belongs to a different venue and has an expiry. Volume, liquidity and price levels from those two markets should not be silently combined.
The same discipline applies to Brent. Keep a separate workspace or clearly labeled chart for each perpetual. A visible difference between WTI-linked and Brent-linked contracts may reflect their underlying references, local liquidity or both; footprint alone cannot isolate the cause.
Review inventory and headline windows as sequences
Mark the time of an inventory release or a major oil headline, then define the window you will review. Compare activity before the first expansion, through the break and on any return. This is a more repeatable study than deciding afterward which large bar was the important one.
An initial spike in buy-initiated volume may be followed by acceptance above a range, or by a sharp return through it. Document both outcomes. A footprint does not read the news, identify the participants, or establish that a particular announcement caused the observed trades.
Read volume in context, not as a mechanical entry
Use a profile to locate the main volume concentration in the covered window. Zoom into individual footprints to examine where aggression met little price progress and where price moved through with less activity. Neither observation guarantees continuation or reversal.
Do not treat missing older rows as an empty oil market. The chart’s historical candle range and detailed tape coverage can differ. For a valid before-and-after comparison, both parts of the window need comparable data coverage and settings.
A practical workflow in Basis
Choose WTI-linked or Brent-linked
Open CLUSDT or BZUSDT on Binance and confirm the full symbol. Keep the two contracts separate.
Define the event window
Mark the event time and pre-event range. Check tape coverage and set a readable row size.
Compare the follow-through
Review delta, the most active prices and the subsequent retest. Save failed interpretations alongside successful ones in your notes.
Questions before you start
Can I choose a specific CL futures expiry in these footprints?
No. The featured instruments are perpetuals, not dated NYMEX or ICE futures contracts. This page is not offering an exchange futures data subscription.
Are WTI-linked and Brent-linked volumes interchangeable?
No. They are separate contracts with separate transaction histories. Compare each contract’s activity and price response on its own terms.
How much does stock and commodity footprint access cost?
Basis Founders is $15 USD for 30 days, renewed manually. There is no automatic recurring charge. Lifetime access is also available for $50 USD once. Applicable taxes or provider/network fees are shown at checkout. The numbered Founder badge belongs to the lifetime plan.
Can I pay by card rather than cryptocurrency?
Yes. Card checkout is available through Creem. NOWPayments is an alternative for crypto payments. Access opens after payment is verified. See the payments page for the applicable terms and refund process.
What does a bid/ask footprint measure in Basis?
It groups the selected Binance contract’s executed trades by price and bar. Sell-initiated volume appears on the bid side and buy-initiated volume on the ask side. Delta is buy volume minus sell volume. It is not a record of every resting order or the identity of traders.
Why are some historical rows still loading?
Detailed trade tape loads separately from candles. Check the tape/coverage status before interpreting older bars; a pending ladder is not zero activity. History depends on source availability and the loaded window, not an unlimited tick archive.
Can I use a Hyperliquid stock chart for this footprint?
Basis also charts Hyperliquid markets, but its exact-trade footprint currently uses Binance. Select the Binance version of a supported stock or commodity for the footprint described here; same-name contracts on different venues are separate markets.
