Basis Founders · Binance perpetual data

Commodity order flow. More than a price line.

Bring gold, silver and oil perpetuals into a price-by-price workflow. Inspect executed volume, compare the response around a level, and use a volume profile to see where the session concentrated its activity.

Data scope: Commodity footprints use Binance perpetual trades. This is not CME, COMEX or NYMEX futures data, physical commodity volume, or a broker’s spot-market feed.

One layout, different market questions

A metals trader may want to inspect the response to a macro release. An energy trader may care about a range break around an inventory headline. The footprint helps describe the transactions around that event: which prices attracted volume, whether aggression was concentrated on one side, and whether price continued or returned.

The benefit of one workspace is a consistent process, not an assumption that every market behaves alike. Keep each contract’s row size, liquidity and volume units in mind. A threshold that produces useful highlights in gold may produce noise or almost nothing in silver or oil.

Footprint, volume profile and heatmap answer different questions

The footprint distributes executed volume within each bar. A volume profile combines executed volume across a selected time range. An order-book heatmap follows displayed resting liquidity over time. Resting orders can change or disappear without a trade, so a bright heatmap band is not the same evidence as a heavily traded footprint row.

Use the profile to locate areas of participation, then inspect the footprint as price revisits one of those areas. Read the chart’s coverage indicator first. A candle history window can extend further back than the detailed trade tape; incomplete rows are not evidence that nobody traded there.

Keep the contract and the reference market separate

Gold and oil are traded through many instruments. A perpetual’s volume represents its own venue, even when its price references a familiar commodity. Do not merge XAUUSDT volume with GC futures or treat a CLUSDT ladder as a NYMEX CL contract.

This distinction is a purchase decision, not fine print. If your workflow requires exchange-native futures volume or a particular futures expiry, choose a feed that explicitly provides it. Basis is useful when your research question is about the supported perpetual market.

A practical workflow in Basis

  1. Start with a market, not a signal

Choose gold, silver or an oil perpetual and mark the time window or price area you want to study.

  2. Read the context first

Use a volume profile for the broader range, then switch to footprint for the activity inside individual bars.

  3. Document the reaction

Keep the event time, venue and chart settings with your notes. Compare later observations using the same definitions instead of selecting only convincing examples.

Questions before you start

Is this a replacement for a CME futures data subscription?

No. These are different instruments and different transaction feeds. Basis charts Binance commodity perpetuals; it does not supply CME, COMEX or NYMEX exchange-native futures tape.

Can I use the same footprint settings for every commodity?

You can use a common layout, but adjust row grouping and thresholds to each contract’s tick size and activity. Keep settings consistent when comparing observations on the same contract.

How much does stock and commodity footprint access cost?

Basis Founders is $15 USD for 30 days, renewed manually. There is no automatic recurring charge. Lifetime access is also available for $50 USD once. Applicable taxes or provider/network fees are shown at checkout. The numbered Founder badge belongs to the lifetime plan.

Can I pay by card rather than cryptocurrency?

Yes. Card checkout is available through Creem. NOWPayments is an alternative for crypto payments. Access opens after payment is verified. See the payments page for the applicable terms and refund process.

What does a bid/ask footprint measure in Basis?

It groups the selected Binance contract’s executed trades by price and bar. Sell-initiated volume appears on the bid side and buy-initiated volume on the ask side. Delta is buy volume minus sell volume. It is not a record of every resting order or the identity of traders.

Why are some historical rows still loading?

Detailed trade tape loads separately from candles. Check the tape/coverage status before interpreting older bars; a pending ladder is not zero activity. History depends on source availability and the loaded window, not an unlimited tick archive.

Can I use a Hyperliquid stock chart for this footprint?

Basis also charts Hyperliquid markets, but its exact-trade footprint currently uses Binance. Select the Binance version of a supported stock or commodity for the footprint described here; same-name contracts on different venues are separate markets.
